At the urging of first responders, Evangeline Parish Police Jury President Kevin Veillon has announced that Evangeline Parish will impose a curfew for this evening beginning at 7:00 PM through 7:00 AM tomorrow morning. We urge essential personnel only on the roads during curfew.

Sergeant Darrian Guillory of the Ville Platte Police Department reports the state crime lab has completed DNA testing of the human remains discovered on December 23, 2024, on Wabash Road, off of Tate Cove Road in Ville Platte.

EPSB rejects charter school application

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - At its meeting held Wednesday, January 15, the Evangeline Parish School Board rejected an application for a charter school in Pine Prairie. The school can now apply to the state’s Board of Elementary and Secondary Education for approval.

The 22nd annual Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week will be held in Lakeview Park and Beach in March. The week was announced at the Eunice city council meeting on Tuesday with a proclamation. Twenty-second annual Balfa Week set at Lakeview

The 22nd annual Dewey Balfa Cajun & Creole Heritage Week will begin with a pre-Camp Louisiana French language immersion activity on March 24 hosted at the National Park Service’s “Acadian Culture Center” in Eunice. Balfa Week continues March 25 to 28 at Lakeview RV Park.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Bob Vidrine, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many who left us on Christmas Day 2024 at the age of 89. Joseph Bob donated his body to science at LSU New Orleans.
