Two females are arrested in Turkey Creek for drug offenses

On Saturday, February 6, officers with the Turkey Creek Police Department observed a vehicle traveling southbound on US Hwy 167 at a speed faster than the posted speed limit.
After stopping the vehicle for the traffic infraction, officers could smell a strong odor of presumed marijuana coming from the vehicle. The K-9 unit was then deployed, and a positive alert was detected for the presence of narcotics.
The driver, identified a Meghan Rogers of Eunice, admitted to having said marijuana in her vehicle. After a thorough search of the vehicle, presumed marijuana was located.
Rogers was cited for the minor traffic violations and placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and drug free zone violation.
Then, on Wednesday, February 10, officers observed a vehicle traveling northbound on US Hwy 167 commit a minor traffic violation.
After stopping the vehicle for the violation, officers obtained reasonable suspicion to deploy the K-9. After deployment, a positive alert was detected for the odor of narcotics, and the vehicle was searched. A thorough search of the vehicle located Schedule IV pills which were found in the purse of the driver, Abby Clark of Ville Platte, that was not in a prescription bottle.
Clark was cited for the minor traffic violation and then placed into custody for possession of Schedule IV narcotics and drug free zone violation.
