Because of the high volume of narcotics being shuttled through Turkey Creek, the village is becoming more equipped to combat illegal activity.
Chief of Police Shawn Eckhart told the village council two drug free zone signs have been installed in the village. As a result, most of the village is now “eligible for enhanced penalties for persons who are violating drug laws in our jurisdiction,” said the chief.
Chief Eckhart also reported one of his officers used his own time and own money to become K9 certified. The chief will get with Mayor Phillip Cavins on how to implement the new K9 and the K9 handler.
In other business, the village council voted to adopt a resolution setting the 2020 millage rate at 6.600 and voted to approve John S. Dowling as its certified public accountant.
