The two victims of separate shootings that occurred on same day in Ville Platte have been identified.
The first victim, 28-year-old Andrew Thomas, was shot on January 31 at the intersection of Young Street and Martin Luther King Street. He was struck in the lower leg with a single gunshot and was listed in stable condition.
Later that day, after 1:30 p.m., Artrell Denton was shot on the 600 block of East Washington Street and was listed in stable condition.
In other criminal activity in the city, a business on LaSalle Street has been broken into on several occasions.
On the second time, the suspected teens stole around $800 from the business, according to reports. Then, on the third occurrence, around $350 was taken.
The break-ins leave the owner frustrated after a lack of response from law enforcement in the city.
Chief of Police Al Perr Thomas stated his office is investigating.
