On March 20, around 10 p.m., a drive-by shooting took place near the 600 block of 7th street, by JD Bank, in Mamou.
A brown Buick, occupied by four individuals, drove past teenagers walking home. Two of the teenagers were under the age of 14. The vehicle then stopped, and one of the occupants, identified as Christopher Paul McGee, opened fire.
The victims were able to take cover, and no one was hurt in the incident.
The incident was witnessed by an officer on patrol who was able to quickly stop the vehicle. Once the vehicle was stopped, the officer observed McGee hold what appeared to be a handgun, exit the Buick, and flee on foot.
Three out of the four occupants were taken into custody. Tyler Vaughn Chrisp, 19, Isaiah Tajhawn Malveaux, 19, and Michael Thompson, 19, were charged with principle to attempted second degree murder. Christopher Paul McGee, 20, who is believed to be the shooter, managed to escape and is currently evading law enforcement. He faces charges of attempted second-degree murder.
The Mamou Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in locating McGee. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Mamou Police Department at 337-468-5221. Individuals are advised not to approach McGee; he is considered to be armed and dangerous.
It is important to remember that all callers can remain anonymous, and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
