Homicide is investigated in Ville Platte

A suspect, identified as James “Jimbo” Fontenot, is in custody and was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on Wednesday, April 26. He was apprehended earlier in the day at a hotel off of I-49 in Avoyelles Parish.
Ville Platte Police Department began investigating the matter after reports of a homicide following a body being found on East Beauregard Street on Monday, April 24.
Officers arrived on scene after receiving a phone call from a woman who reported her husband was unresponsive.
Cause of death was not known and the police department has not released the identity of the victim as of press time on Wednesday. More information will be reported as it becomes available. Any updates will be posted on the Ville Platte Gazette’s Website (www.evangelinetoday.com) and Facebook page.
