EPSO reports recent arrests

On 6-12-23, Detectives of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office were tasked to determine if a criminal act had been committed where there was an adult male (22-year-old Hispanic male) possibly having inappropriate interaction with a 13-year-old juvenile female. During the investigation, the following information was uncovered.

The 22-year-old male suspect was having inappropriate conversations with the 13-year-old juvenile female. He was convincing the female go to private locations in her home and take inappropriate photographs of herself. He also made inappropriate sexual comments to the juvenile as to specific sex acts, he wanted to perform on her and with her.

The child's mother became aware of this and brought the child and the text interaction to our offices as well as information on the suspect's phone number and his current residence that she looked up herself. With further investigation, Detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant Christopher Guevara H/M DOB: 08/19/2000 of Texas for Indecent Behavior with Juveniles and Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor

He was tracked from Pflugerville Texas, to Pearland, Texas, and subsequently to New Braunfels, Texas where he was placed under arrest by the US Marshals Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force on 12-11-23 and will be arraigned in the 13th JDC in the near future.

On January 19th, 2024, Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Deputies responded to an Aggravated Assault with a firearm at a residence on Amelca Road in Chatagnier. Responding Deputies learned Joshua Charles Jones D.O.B. 11/19/2002 of Ville Platte had gone to the residence to confront a family member about another relative. During the argument, Jones walked to his vehicle and pulled out a black handgun.

He then walked over to the 2 complainants and pointed the gun at them threatening to shoot them both. Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Detectives later retrieved surveillance footage from the residence on Amelca. Detectives were able to identify Jones arguing with the two complainants. Detectives then witnessed Jones walk over to his vehicle and begin pointing what appeared to be a gun at the two Complainants.

An arrest warrant was issued for Joshua Charles Jones for 2 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. On February 5th, 2024, Jones was arrested and is currently held at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Jail for the charges from the incident in Evangeline Parish.
