Chief confirms shooting

Ville Platte Chief of Police Al Perry Thomas has confirmed a young Black male was shot at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Friday, May 12, near the intersection of Coreil Street and Magnolia Street. The severity of the injuries is unknown at this time, but the victim was air lifted from Mercy Regional Medical Center to Lafayette General. The matter remains under investigation.
