During the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 13, an incident occurred on Sixth Street in Mamou, during the Mardi Gras festival street dance, where a 19-year-old female was abducted by three male suspects.
The suspects were identified as Martinez Coucek Gallow (45), of Mamou, and Darryl Washington Jr. (44) and Louis Alfred (45), both of Ville Platte.
Throughout the ordeal, the young woman was kidnapped, drugged, and subjected to sexual assault by the three assailants.
Swift action by the Mamou Police Department then led to the quick apprehension of all three suspects, ensuring the victim’s safe rescue.
Gallow faces charges of simple kidnapping and flight from an officer. Washington Jr. is charged with simple kidnapping, sexual battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Alfred is charged with simple kidnapping, sexual battery, possession with the intent to distribute schedule II narcotics, and 1 count of distribution of schedule II narcotics.
All three suspects have an extensive criminal history with convictions ranging from murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, to drug distribution.
The Mamou Police Department is further actively looking for a Kelsey Rochelle Mallet, who has been charged with attempted first degree murder after an altercation which also happened on Tuesday, during the Mardi Gras festivities just before 5 p.m.
Mallet, 25-year-old resident of Port Barre, allegedly stabbed 19-year-old Taylor Crump, of Opelousas, twice in the chest puncturing Crump’s lung. The victim was rushed to the local hospital by a Mamou Police Officer and has undergone surgery for her injuries. She is in stable condition.
