Arrest is made in VP homicide

Chief A. Perry Thomas reports an update to the September 14 shooting that resulted in the death
of a 19-year-old female and injuries to a 26-year-old male and a 27-year-old male near the intersection
of Huey P. Long and Reed Street. Shortly after the shooting, police arrested Tavion Fontenot, age 20,
and a juvenile, age 15.
After further investigation, police, in cooperation with U.S. Marshals, located and apprehended
Kubby Simon, age 24, on November 9. He was booked on 1 count of Second Degree Murder and 2
counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder. His bond was set at $3,750,000.
In October, Malik Charles, age 25, was also arrested and booked on 1 count of Second Degree
Murder and 2 counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder for the same incident. His bond has also been
set at $3,750,000.
Recently, a fifth suspect, 21-year-old Caleb C. Thomas, was arrested in Monroe, LA. He will be
extradited to the Ville Platte Police Department and booked on 1 count of Second Degree Murder and 2
counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder. Thomas’s bond has also been set at $3,750,000.
More arrests are possible as the investigation continues. If anyone has any information on this
