The Ville Platte Rotary Club ended its meetings in May by hearing from Janet Armand, who is the director of nursing at Savoy Medical Center’s psych and detox unit called New Horizons.

The Evangeline Parish Library kicked off its Summer Reading program with a performance from the Morgan City native Elizabeth Vidos (also known as Lady Chops), who has performed for 10 years in New
Ninety-five graduating seniors received their diplomas from Ville Platte High School at the school’s 52nd commencement exercises. Raymond Aucoin, parish school superintendent, delivered the principle address. Superintendent LeRoy Soileau took part in the program, and the actual diplomas were awarded by Principal Yves Soileau. Class valedictorian was Judith Fuselier, and Darryl McManus was the salutatorian. Large numbers of parents, relatives, and friends were present for the colorful exercises.
