All too familiar opponent set to visit Soileau-Landry

With non-district play behind teams now and the majority getting into district play, it’s obvious that this is the time of the year that just means more. Not just for playoff seeding, or even for championships. It’s more than that. Being the best in your district is accompanied by a sense of pride.

After loss to Grant, Panthers look to begin district with a win

It wasn’t a win on its record books for Pine Prairie when it played Northwest last season. As a matter of fact, it appeared to the naked eye to be just another loss in what would eventually stretch out to be a 21-game losing streak for the Panthers.

Battle of Bayou Nezpique set to rage in Elton

There is nothing like small-town football. It’s been dramatized on TV, most famously on the NBC series Friday Night Lights, and the theme is ever-present. It means more in small towns. The games, the rivalries, the results. All of it matters more.

Thursday night showdown

One is coming off of its highest high, and another off of its lowest low in Week 4. So, perhaps there’s no time like the present for Sacred Heart to be heading into Mamou tonight in each team’s final non-district tune-up game.

The beginning of this year has taken a toll on Basile Bearcat football. Not being able to have a scrimmage, jamboree or Week 1 will set any team behind. But, after last week’s win, coach Kevin Bertrand hopes his team’s best days are ahead of it.

Panthers look to navigate past Grant before district

If a football team is a ship and its coach is the captain, not many captains have as much belief in their ships as Pine Prairie coach Richard Clark does right now. However, the ship is moving into waters it has never been in before and it’s the captain’s job to navigate them successfully.
