This past weekend Evangeline Parish Deputies were out on patrol looking for Seat Belt and other violations. The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission awarded the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department a Grant to conduct this specialized detail.

By: TONY MARKS Editor With work taking place on U.S. Hwy 167 N, the Turkey Creek Police Department caught people removing warning signs and tearing trash bags off of signs. The offenders were written tickets, but the charge of tampering with barricades was not in the system.

ATV theft remains under investigation

On April 23, 2022, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1000 Blk. of Gas St. in reference to a theft of a 1995 Green Honda ATV. The ATV was described as being two wheel drive with a front flat tire and custom fenders with mud flaps.

On the 14 th of July 2022 the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Departments Narcotics Unit, conducted a search warrant at the Best Inn hotel room 109. Agents made entry into the room and detained two subjects without incident. Agents conducted a search of the room and located illegal narcotics.

On the 13 th of July 2022 the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy and the Narcotics Captain conducted a traffic stop on I49 Southbound for a speeding violation. After contact was made it was determined that the operator, identified as Eric Martin, was in possession of Marijuana.

Disturbance leads to pursuit

On July 13, 2022 Pine Prairie Police received a call about a disturbance on 5 th Street at Walnut Street. Upon arrival officers observed a female identified as Linda Anderson (1-11-1981) of Ville Platte, hollering and causing a scene attempting to intimidate a witness of a crime.
