The Lafayette Police Department arrested 19-year-old Kayden Wilson, of Ville Platte, in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Toren Martin, of Lafayette. Wilson was charged with second degree murder.

Port Allen – Shortly before 3:00 a.m. on June 29, 2024, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a two-vehicle crash on LA 415 near Commercial Drive in West Baton Rouge Parish. The crash claimed the life of 20-year-old Jada Bergeron of Mamou.

By: TONY MARKS Editor Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles Guillory announced the start date for the new parish jail was Tuesday, June 25. Initially, the start date was scheduled for a week prior, but the start was delayed because of tropical weather that moved across the area.

Felon is arrested on drug, weapon charges in Mamou

On June 5, after a narcotic investigations into the distribution of illegal narcotics, agents with Evangeline Parish Sheriff Office, along with patrol deputies, executed a no-knock narcotic search warrant at a residence on the 500 block of East Street, in Mamou.

Pay raises are discussed for chief, clerk
