Juvenile is arrested in theft of Tahoe

Chief A. Perry Thomas reports that an arrest has been made in the case of a 2021 black Chevrolet Tahoe that was stolen at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, from the Ville Platte Walmart Parking lot on East LaSalle Street. The vehicle was recovered after 2:00 p.m.

Fatality is reported in Reed Street shooting

VILLE PLATTE - Chief A. Perry Thomas reports that the Ville Platte Police Department is currently investigating a shooting which occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, on North Reed Street. When officers responded to the shooting, they found a 23-year-old male had been shot.

Chief A. Perry Thomas, of the Ville Platte Police Department, reports an arrest has been made in a case of second degree murder, which occurred at 3:30 p.m. on June 25, on South Soileau Street, in Ville Platte.

Unrestrained teen is killed in crash

VILLE PLATTE – On August 27, shortly after 10 p.m., troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on U.S. Highway 167 near Filly Lane in Evangeline Parish. The crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Brian Walker, of Ville Platte.
