Deputy-involved shooting is investigated

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE — One person is dead following a deputy-involved shooting that occurred near the intersection of Ivy Lane and Homer Road, just east of the corporate limits of Ville Platte. The incident claimed the life of Dylan Savoie, 24.

Hands-free driving law takes effect

Sulphur man killed in two-vehicle accident

On January 1, 2026, around 7 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 190 near Bryan Perrodin Loop on the parish line of Acadia and Evangeline Parishes less than a mile east of the Basile town limits.
