The gazebo at Victorian Plantation in Broussard provided the setting for a lovely candlelit 5:30 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, October 26, 2019, uniting Miss Jacqueline Rose Elliott and Mr. Barry Alexander Grinnell in Holy Matrimony, with Pastor Kevin West of First Baptist Church Ville Platte officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Kirk and Lynette Elliott of Grand Coteau. The groom is the son of Barry and Lora Grinnell of Mandeville.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was radiant in her ivory lace dress with sheer sweetheart neckline and back. The mermaid silhouette gown had a lattice motif down the center of the dress and sleeves with scalloped lace edging the sleeves, skirt, and cathedral train.
Her cathedral-length illusion veil was edged in matching sequined scalloped lace and her shoes were green velvet with ivory beaded lace.
For something old, she wore an antique diamond pendant necklace worn by four previous generations of brides in her mother’s family. Her great-grandmother’s ring served as something blue, and she carried a lucky sixpence and monogrammed antique handkerchief.
Her bouquet consisted of eucalyptus, fern, white roses, white larkspur, and crimson protea.
Malise Gardiner Gary of Lake Charles served as matron of honor for the special occasion. She wore a floor length gown of forest green velvet with a bouquet of greenery and white roses.
Bridesmaids were Alexandra Olivier, of New Orleans, Jeanne Angelle Calais, of Breaux Bridge, Selina Hebert, of Youngsville, Gabrielle Swindle, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Caroline Hoogland and Natalie Boone, both of Austin, Texas. They were attired in forest green dresses of velvet and matte satin in styles of their choice with bouquets identical to the matron of honor.
Douglas McCain, of Mandeville, served as best man for the evening ceremony.
Groomsmen were Braden and Brant Grinnell, brothers of the groom of Mandeville, Kenneth Elliott, brother of the bride of Baton Rouge, Ryan Nolan, of Raleigh, N.C., Daniel Mathies, of Covington, Carter Blanche, of Houston, and Blake Bruhl, of Folsom.
The ushers were Paul Doucet, of Arnaudville, and Reese Fogarty, of Mandeville.
For her daughter’s special day, the bride’s mother was attired in a peacock floor-length mikado satin gown with sheer lace bodice, back, and sleeves and pleated waistband.
The groom’s mother chose a charcoal gray, floor-length column gown with portrait neckline and beaded bodice.
A reception followed in the tent on the lawn of the Victorian. The white tent was hung with chandeliers, vines and greenery. The entrance table was covered in green velvet and held framed wedding pictures of the bride and groom’s parents and grandparents. A trellis covered with vines and greenery was suspended above the dance floor. Guest tables were covered with green velvet and brass candlesticks. The center of the tent contained a tall brass pedestal urn with a floral centerpiece.
Following a honeymoon to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple has made their home in Houston.
