The Mamou Cajun Music Festival has announced its honoree for this year’s event. According to a social media post, the 52nd annual festival will be held on September 12 and 13, and its honoree this year will be Cajun musician, DJ, and preservationist Fred Charlie.

The four Evangeline Parish festival queens were recognized during the monthly meeting of the Evangeline Parish Tourist Commission held Thursday, January 16, at the Pine Prairie Community Center.
The 22nd annual Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week will be held in Lakeview Park and Beach in March. The week was announced at the Eunice city council meeting on Tuesday with a proclamation. Twenty-second annual Balfa Week set at Lakeview

The 22nd annual Dewey Balfa Cajun & Creole Heritage Week will begin with a pre-Camp Louisiana French language immersion activity on March 24 hosted at the National Park Service’s “Acadian Culture Center” in Eunice. Balfa Week continues March 25 to 28 at Lakeview RV Park.

Boggy Bayou Festival Pageant to be held March 15

The Boggy Bayou Queens Pageant is set for Saturday, March 15, at The Sherman Place Event Venue, in Pine Prairie. Doors will open at 8 a.m., and the pageant will begin at 10 a.m. Deadline to enter is March 8 (baby through junior may enter at the door with a $10 late fee). Admission is $5.
