New hand-held device law takes effect

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory would like to inform you of the new Louisiana Hand Held Law. Effective August 1, 2025, Louisiana Drivers will no longer be allowed to physically hold a cellphone or any other handheld device while operating a vehicle.

Tri-Parish job numbers are announced for May

The Tri-Parish workforce totaled 68,223 in May, and increase of 823 over the May 2024 count, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The Tri-Parish unemployment rates in May were up compared to those of May 2024.
