Lady Bulldogs begin postseason with 73-48 win over Lady Knights

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - The road to Hammond for the girls’ state tournament began for the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs with a 73-48 win over North Webster on Thursday night. Ville Platte had to work for the win and come from behind after trailing 17-11 at the end of the first period.

Lady Trojans win behind 14-run inning

By: TONY MARKS Editor Fourteen runs in the first inning helped allow the Sacred Heart softball team to pick up a 20-0 home win against West Feliciana on Wednesday. Amelia Fontenot went all three innings for the Lady Trojans and did not allow a hit while walking three batters.

New season begins for girls’ basketball teams

By: TONY MARKS Editor A new season commences tonight as four of the five girls’ high school basketball teams begin play in the playoffs. One of those teams begin its journey to Hammond for the LHSAA Girls’ Marsh Madness with a first round bye.

Mamou wins co-district title

By: TONY MARKS Editor MAMOU - Twenty-four points separated the Mamou boys’ basketball team from an outright district championship as the Green Demons fell 69-45 at home to the Northwest Raiders last Friday night. It was Mamou’s first loss since January 16.

Bearcats see double trouble against Tiger teams

By: TONY MARKS Editor OBERLIN - The Oberlin girls’ basketball team held a 21-point lead at halftime over the girls from Basile in the regular season finale, and the lead shrunk down to 9 points early in the fourth quarter.

Green Demons topple Bulldogs

By: TONY MARKS Editor It was a paradigm shift of sorts as the Mamou Green Demons pulled off a 72-62 win over the Ville Platte Bulldogs on Tuesday night. With the win, Mamou improved to 21-4 on the season and 3-0 in district.
