Basile boys snap three-game losing skid

By: SYLIS MANUEL Sports Reporter The Basile Bearcats bounced back to beat the visiting Pine Prairie Panthers and snap their three game losing streak with a 66-63 victory. The Lady Cats also came out on top of the Lady Panthers 58-41, racking off their second win in a row.

Sacred Heart hosted its fourth powerlifting invitational on Saturday, January 11. Twelve girls’ teams participated in the event, and there were nine boys’ teams.

Fourth annual SH powerlifting invitational is held

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - Area schools competed in the fourth annual Sacred Heart Invitational, held Saturday, January 11. Sacred Heart boys and girls each won the team competitions with 37 points and 60 points respectively.

Extra period dooms VP girls against LaGrange

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - It was a playoff atmosphere at Ville Platte High’s gym as the Lady Bulldogs hosted LaGrange on Tuesday night. Ville Platte tied the game at 48-48 to force an overtime period. In overtime, though, LaGrange outscored the Lady Bulldogs 8-5 for a 56-53 win.

Not close enough

By: TONY MARKS Editor ARNAUDVILLE - It was close, but not close enough. That was the case for the Ville Platte High boys’ basketball team as it suffered a three-point loss, 64-61, against Beau Chene Wednesday night. The Bulldogs found themselves trailing 20-7 after the first quarter.
