LSUE presents baseball World Series rings

During the school’s Hall of Fame Gala, which was held on Saturday, January 18, members of the LSUE baseball team received their 2024 World Series rings. A ring was also presented to Ken Marks, of Ville Platte, who is the team’s bus driver. Marks is pictured in the center with LSUE Chancellor Dr.

By: SYLIS MANUEL Sports Reporter The Basile Bearcats bounced back to beat the visiting Pine Prairie Panthers and snap their three game losing streak with a 66-63 victory. The Lady Cats also came out on top of the Lady Panthers 58-41, racking off their second win in a row.

SH wins powerlifting invitational

Sacred Heart hosted its fourth powerlifting invitational on Saturday, January 11. Twelve girls’ teams participated in the event, and there were nine boys’ teams.

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - It was a playoff atmosphere at Ville Platte High’s gym as the Lady Bulldogs hosted LaGrange on Tuesday night. Ville Platte tied the game at 48-48 to force an overtime period. In overtime, though, LaGrange outscored the Lady Bulldogs 8-5 for a 56-53 win.

By: TONY MARKS Editor ARNAUDVILLE - It was close, but not close enough. That was the case for the Ville Platte High boys’ basketball team as it suffered a three-point loss, 64-61, against Beau Chene Wednesday night. The Bulldogs found themselves trailing 20-7 after the first quarter.
