By: TONY MARKS Editor MAMOU - With the threat of inclement weather, the Evangeline Parish Jamboree was moved to Thursday, August 28, but the offenses were not bothered by the date change as the four teams combined for 53 points. The following is a rundown of both games.

Season begins with several key matchups

By: TONY MARKS Editor The college football season begins today for Southeastern Conference teams as the Missouri Tigers host Central Arkansas at Faurot Field. It is the first ever meeting between the schools. The game is at 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network.

By: DARREL LEJEUNE LSN Editor OBERLIN - After a week of uncertainty, Oberlin High School confirmed Monday afternoon that the Tigers will take the field this fall as a varsity football squad. Oberlin is scheduled to play the Basile Bearcats on Thursday, October 30, at home.

Skenes, Eovaldi named pitchers of the month

All-Star starting pitcher Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates has been voted the National League Pitcher of the Month for July, and starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi of the Texas Rangers has been named the American League Pitcher of the Month for July.
