Marks earns three LSWA writing awards

NATCHITOCHES — Tony Marks, editor of the Ville Platte Gazette and sports editor of The Oakdale Journal, earned three awards in the 2024 Louisiana Sports Writers Association Annual Contest. The awards were presented on Sunday, June 29, in Natchitoches.

A super championship

By: TONY MARKS Editor The Mamou Super 10s ran through the DYB District 7 Tournament like General William Sherman through Atlanta as they won all five of their games on their way to a district championship. Mamou’s run through the tournament began with a 5-3 win over the Super 10s from Ville Platte.

Burkholder’s dynamic days at LSU magnified support for powerhouse gymnastics program

LSU Baseball won its 8th College World Series this past Sunday, and it was the team’s second national championship in the last three years. That is an impressive accomplishment. For me, though, this championship is a little sweeter than the past ones. Why, you ask? Well, let’s borrow Mr.
The 6U Softball All Stars won the Central Region Tournament. Players are Aria Montelaro, Anna Kate Latiolais, Piper Lafleur, Marissa Fruge, Remi Kate Ortego, Adaline Johnson, Livie Rose Launey, Ellis Fontenot, Eloise Guillory, Maddie Frank, Khloe Edwards, and Maddison Griffin.
