Ready for the lights?

Losing a ton of senior experience usually does not bode well for any gridiron team.

Starting over

How do you replace a senior class that has changed the tone and makeup of your program over the last four years? That is a tough question to answer and one that Pine Prairie Panther head coach Yves Prince must face heading into the 2019 season.

Senior focus

In 2018, the Mamou Demons came under new leadership when Dwight Collins was named the head coach. That transition to a somewhat unfamiliar system had some rocky patches as the season began.

Basile show flashes of promise during fall scrimmage

BASILE -- The Basile Bearcats scrimmaged against the DeQuincy Tigers Thursday night to warm up for the ensuing season. Both teams showed some promise and despite losing a majority of their top senior players last year, the Bearcats looked as if they’ll continue their success in the coming season.

Finding out

MOREAUVILLE -- The Ville Platte High Bulldogs came into their fall scrimmage aginast the Avoyelles Mustangs and the Cohen College High Hornets with two missions in mind; find out who can play and don’t get anybody hurt.

Hard decision

In a very heartbreaking decision, Ville Platte Junior High head football coach Ezekiel Thomas stepped down after 14 years of service to the school and the student/athletes who he served. What made the decision even tougher was the fact that Thomas was well liked by his players and former players.

Ready, set, go!!!

Summer is over, school is back in session and football season has begun in full force. On Monday all five of the parish gridiron teams officially opened fall camp as they tried to beat the sweltering heat that always inundates the month of August.

A familiar place

During this past offseason, McNeese State University decided to change direction and hire on a brand new football coaching staff. In fact the only survivors of the purge were the strength coach and a very familiar face to Ville Platte High athletics, Matt Saucier.
