With the parish girl’s teams heading to the playoffs tonight, the boy’s teams still have some work to do in the regular season.
With that being said, both the Ville Platte Bulldogs and the Sacred Heart Trojans were hoping to pick up much needed wins on Tuesday night.
Ville Platte had to take care of the Pine Prairie Panthers if they wished to stay one game out of the District 5-3A lead and set up a league title game against the Northwest Raiders tomorrow night.
The Bulldogs did just that, as they rolled past the Panthers 72-30 to improve to 23-10 on the season and 8-1 in district play. Ville Platte hosts Northwest tomorrow night for the chance to tie for the district championship.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart took on Northside Christian for a shot at a fifth win on the season. The Trojans used an explosive offensive performance to do just that, as they eased past the Warriors for a 73-67 win.
Sacred Heart is now 5-23 on the season and will host Laccasine tomorrow night for their final regular season contest.
Here is a rundown of those two games played.

Ville Platte vs.
Pine Prairie
It did not take Ville Platte long to establish their dominance over Pine Prairie. Before the Panthers could blink, the Bulldogs ran off the first 11 points of the game and held Pine Prairie scoreless with 5:34 on the clock.
By the time the first quarter was finished, Ville Platte owned a 16-5 lead.
The second quarter was no different than the first. After surrendering the first two points of the period, the Bulldogs reeled off 14 of the next 17 points.
The half ended with Ville Platte on top 36-12.
The third quarter did not produce many points on either side of the floor. However, the Bulldogs were still able to get the best of the Panthers, outscoring Pine Prairie 15-7.
The final period saw Ville Platte empty their bench to seal the win. Korrin Coward led the way for the Bulldogs with 17 points.

Northside Christian
vs. Sacred Heart
Both teams lit up the night on the offensive side of the ball, starting in the first quarter. After the two teams finished slicing apart the opposing defense, Northside Christian led 16-15.
Sacred Heart turned up the volume in the second period, outpacing the Warriors 22-18 to take a 37-34 lead into the locker room.
Northside Christian found some more momentum in the third quarter, finishing with an 18-15 edge.
However, Bryce Deville scored nine of his game high 30 points in the final period to lead the Trojans to the win.
