The VPGSA 8U All-Stars also had a tremendous tournament, going 3-1. In the three wins picked up by Ville Platte, they out scored their opponents 43-3.
The All-Stars first game was an 11-3 pool play win over the Warchiefs. In that opening contest, Ville Platte opened the game with a 6-2 lead and never looked back. The All-Stars secured three more runs in the second and two more runs in the third to finish the game off.
Pool game number two saw Ville Platte keep the gas pedal mashed offensively, as they ran past North Vermilion 13-0. The All-Stars racked up six runs in the first and six more runs in the second to roll past the Vermilion Parish squad.
There was no let down with the bats in Ville Platte’s first bracket game. The All-Stars picked up where they left off in the previous game and scored 19 points in a shut out win over the Shockers. Ville Platte hammered away for six runs in each of the first two innings and rolled up five more runs in the third inning.
The only blemish on the All-Stars record in the tournament came at the hands of Mamou. Ville Platte’s bats fizzled, only producing four total runs in a 21-4 loss to their cross-parish rivals. The All-stars will be in Crowley this weekend.
