Ville Platte to host hoops tournament starting this week; several state schools in attendance

VILLE PLATTE -- The Ville Platte High Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will host their Curley Dossman, Sr. Classic Invitational Tournament this week beginning on Wednesday night at the Ville Platte High gym and at the Bayou Chicot Elementary gym.
Several teams throughout the state will be in attendance for the four day tournament. Included in the boy’s bracket will be Northwest, Southside, David Thibodaux, Beau Chene, North Central, Southern Lab, Northside, Mamou, LaGrange and the host team Ville Platte.
Teams scheduled to compete in the girl’s bracket are North Central, Pine Prairie, Northwest, LaGrange, Beau Chene, Mamou, David Thibodaux, Sam Houston and Ville Platte.
Tournament play begins at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon when North Central and Pine Prairie square off in a girl’s match-up at Bayou Chicot Elementary. Also at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, the David Thibodaux boys will battle Beau Chene at Ville Platte High.
Four boys and four girls games are scheduled on that day.
The tournament will continue on Thursday at Ville Platte High only starting at 3:30. There will be five games on tap that day (three girl’s games and two boy’s games.)
Friday five more games will take place on the hard court, including the semi-finals for the girls. Boy’s semi-finals and final will take place on Saturday along with the girl’s finals.
Final games of the tournament will be at 5:15 for the girls and 6:30 for the boys.
Admission for the tournament each day is $7.
Both Ville Platte head coaches, Dot Doulet and Tommy Jones hope to have a big crowd for the entire tournament.
