Ville Platte attempts to pick up first district win of season

The Ville Platte Bulldogs are not quite finished with their non-district schedule, having to play Ascension Christian in week nine.
In the meantime, the Bulldogs will begin district play tomorrow night when they host the Lake Arthur Tigers in the first league contest for both teams.
Last year, these same two teams battled to the bitter end, with Lake Arthur sliding past Ville Platte 21-20. This year should bring another tough battle between the two schools, as they find themselves in similar places they did in 2017.
Last week, Ville Platte was hit hard by the Oakdale Warriors, taking it on the chin in a 33-6 loss. That puts the Bulldogs at 2-3 on the season, the same situation they were in last year at this point in the season.
Ville Platte comes into the game averaging 15.6 points per game. However, the Bulldogs have failed to score more than a touchdown in their three loses.
On the opposite side of the ball, Ville Platte allows 28.8 points per game on defense; a number that may not bode well for them against the Tigers.
Lake Arthur (4-1) is an offensive machine this season. The Tigers come into the game averaging 36.2 points per game this season and have scored over 40 points on three occasions. It will be up to the Bulldog defense to try and slow down the Lake Arthur attack.
Lake Arthur took down Elton 42-13 in week one, Vinton 24-0 in week four and East Beauregard 48-22 in week five. The only blemish on the Tigers record is a 42-21 loss to Iota in week three.
The two teams do share a common opponent, Pickering. Ville Platte downed the Red Devils 29-20 just two weeks ago, while Lake Arthur thrashed Pickering 46-7 in week two.
Defensively, the Tigers do give up 16.8 points per game. However, Lake Arthur has held two of their five opponents to seven points or less.
