Ville Platte 6U T-Ball All-Stars lay waste to competition in sub-district

DERIDDER -- How do you overcome impatience waiting for your chance to play the game you love because of the weather?
Simple. Go a perfect 8-0 and out score your opponents 208-73.
That is exactly what the Ville Platte Dixie Youth 6U T-Ball All-Stars did in the West Sub-District Tournament that began on Saturday.
The tournament, originally scheduled to start last Thursday, was postponed until Saturday because of all of the flooding rain that occurred last week.
The All-Stars did not let that bother them in any way shape or form. Starting on day one of the tournament, Ville Platte showed that they were the team to be reckoned with, picking up three big wins in resounding fashion.
The All-Stars blasted their way to a 24-14 win over Dequincy in game one of tourney play on Saturday. Ville Platte jumped out to 7-0 lead after one inning of play and kept the heat up the entire game.
Dequincy answered with seven runs in the second and third innings, but the All-Stars kept pace scoring the same amount during that span. In the final at bat for both teams, Ville Platte out produced Dequincy 3-0.
Game two on Saturday saw the All-Stars put up 20 plus runs once again, as they mowed down Deridder 21-8. Ville Platte had a 14-5 lead after two innings of play in that contest and held Deridder to only three runs over the next two at bats.
The final game Saturday lasted a total of 30 minutes, as the All-Stars flashed some glove in a 16-1 romp of South Beauregard.
Sunday’s action began with a 21-3 victory over Vernon American. Once again, the Ville Platte defense proved they came to play, allowing only four base runners all game long.
In one of the highest scoring affairs in Ville Platte T-Ball history, the Evangeline Parish crew took down Dequincy 54-21. The game, undecided until the fifth inning, saw Ville Platte put up 29 runs in their final at bat to pull away from Dequincy.
On Monday, the All-Stars picked up another two wins to improve to 7-0 in tournament play. In the first game against Deridder, Ville Platte plated 21 runs in the first three innings to defeat Deridder 27-10.
Game two on Monday was a defensive gem for the All-Stars, as they blanked South Beauregard 19-0.
The final game of the tournament came on Tuesday, as Ville Platte hustled their way to 21 runs in their first three at bats to run past Vernon American 26-16.
