The Sacred Heart Trojans are peeking at the right time.
With eight wins in their last 10 games, Sacred Heart is hoping the current win streak will aid them in their playoff positioning when the brackets are announced today. As of Tuesday, the Trojans sat in the No. 10 spot in the latest Division IV power ranking, but with wins over Lake Charles College Prep and Pitkin this past week, Sacred Heart hopes to move up to the top eight and host a first round playoff game.
On Tuesday, the Trojans blew past Lake Charles College Prep 11-1 and followed that up with an 8-5 win over Pitkin on Wednesday. The two wins improved Sacred Heart’s overall record to 17-12-1. Now, all the Trojans can do is wait for their playoff fate to be revealed.
Here is a rundown of those two games played this week.

Sacred Heart
vs. LCC Prep
After blanking the Trailblazers in the top of the first inning, Sacred Heart went to work at the plate, picking up four runs in their first at bat.
Wesley Launey drew a lead-off walk and reached second on a single from JT Harper. A passed ball moved both runners up one bag.
Garrett Fontenot walked to load the bases. Another passed ball scored Launey and pushed Harper and Fontenot to second and third.
A fielder’s choice off the bat of Gabe Fontenot plated Harper and allowed Garrett Fontenot to get to third base. Drew Bordelon was hit by a pitch, giving the Trojans runners at first and third.
Garrett Fontenot stole home plate, and Bordelon took second. Cade Manuel singled, putting Bordelon on third base. After Cannon Beaver was hit by a pitch, Bordelon touched home on a fielder’s choice.
Sacred Heart added another run in the bottom of the second and three more runs in the third. The Trojans plated two runs in the fourth when Alec Gotro tripled to score Manuel and Nick Perry.
Sacred Heart finished out the game with a solo run in the fifth. Lake Charles College Prep plated their only run in the top of the second.

Sacred Heart
vs. Pitkin
Neither team could get it going on offense in their first at bats. However, Sacred Heart picked up a single run in the top of the second when Bordelon came home to score.
Pitkin took over the lead in the bottom of the second by bringing home two runs of their own.
The Trojans strung together a trio of hits in the top of the third to garner two more runs and take a 3-2 lead. The Tigers responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to go up 5-3.
From that point on it was all Sacred Heart. The Trojans blasted away at the plate in the top of the sixth, gathering four runs on four hits to move ahead 7-5. The big hits were doubles from Harper and Christian Duplechin.
The final run of the game came in the top of the seventh when Manuel touched home plate.
