The 2020 parish baseball season is now in full force, and with that all four Evangeline schools that bring a team to the diamond are expecting big things.
On Monday, those teams took to the field of play with three of the four squads garnering wins. The only team to fall, the Mamou Demons, did give the Crowley Gents all they could handle in a 3-2 loss.
However, the Sacred Heart Trojans, the Ville Platte Bulldogs and the Pine Prairie Panthers all secured wins before the rains came down too hard.
Here is a rundown of each of those Monday afternoon games.

Northside Christian
vs. Sacred Heart
In what turned out to be a run-away win, the Sacred Heart Trojans picked up 12 hits, including five doubles, to blast the Northside Christian Warriors 19-5.
Northside Christian opened with a single run in the first to take the early lead. But, the Sacred Heart bats came crashing through, as they notched six runs in the bottom half of the inning and eight more runs in the following at bat to go up by 13.
The Warriors added two more in the third inning. However, the Trojans countered that with four more runs in the bottom of that same inning.
Sacred Heart tacked on a single run in the bottom of the fourth to finish out their scoring. Sacred Heart is now 4-2 on the season.

Opelousas vs.
Ville Platte
The Ville Platte Bulldogs picked up their third win in a row with a 9-7 home victory over the Opelousas Tigers on Monday. Ville Platte is now 3-2 on the year.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-1 lead after one inning of play when Bastian Veillon and Payton Soileau came around to score. Opelousas scored a run in the third and two runs in the fourth to own a 4-2 edge.
However, Ville Platte blew up the Tiger pitching staff for six runs in the bottom of the fourth to re-take the lead. After Opelousas garnered three runs in the fifth, the Bulldogs finished off the game with a solo run in the seventh.

Pine Prairie vs.
East Beauregard
In an exciting extra inning affair, the Pine Prairie Panthers slid past East Beauregard 7-6 to improve to 2-7 on the season.
It was the Trojans that dictated the game in the first two at bats, as East Beauregard jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Not backing down, the Panthers found their groove at the plate in the bottom of the third, collecting six runs on six hits, including a double from Nathan Bordelon, to take over the lead.
The Trojans tied the game back up with a solo run in the top of the sixth, making it a 6-6 game. That score remained until the bottom of the eighth when Jace Vidrine doubled home Colin Ardoin for the win.

Mamou vs. Crowley
In a rain shortened game, the Mamou Demons came up one run short in a tough loss to Crowley on Monday. Mamou drops to 5-3 on the season with the loss.
The Demons took the early 1-0 in the top of the first when Kayden Serie scored on a sacrifice fly from Zach Morein.
Crowley tied the game in the fifth and won with two runs in the sixth.
