The awards keep coming for a few Sacred Heart Trojan baseball players, as the Louisiana Baseball Coach’s Association Class 1A All-State and All-Region 5 Team were announced.
Earning All-State and All-Region honors were utility player Garrett Fontenot and outfielder JT Harper. Also named to the All-State team was pitcher Cody Shipp.
Fontenot, was named the MVP for Evangeline Parish for 2018 and was a first team all-district selection. The junior catcher hit .425 on the season and drove in 37 RBIs, scoring 15 times and holding a .580 on base percentage.
Harper, also a first team all-district and all-parish choice, had two home runs, four triples and nine doubles while batting .416 on the season.
Shipp was named to the all-district second team and the all-parish first team. Shipp finished the year with an overall record of 8-5 and a 2.50 ERA while striking out 58 batters he faced.
