SH basketball earns split dividends against Oakdale

VILLE PLATTE – A 34-point night for senior Blair LaFleur elevated her Sacred Heart Lady Trojans 54-39 over the visiting Oakdale Lady Warriors Monday night.
With the win, the Lady Trojans improved to 3-4 on the season.
LaFleur scored all but three of Sacred Heart’s points in the first quarter as the Lady Trojans jumped out to a 13-11 lead.
All 15 Lady Trojan points in the second quarter were credited to LaFleur as Sacred Heart opened up the lead to 28-13 at the half.
In the third quarter, LaFleur tapered off a bit only scoring a layup and two free throws. She added a trio of layups and a free throw in the game’s final eight minutes.
Also scoring for the Lady Trojans were Amanda Bergeron with nine points including a shot from beyond the arc, Anna Parrott with six points, Carley Cloud with three points, and Olivia Hernandez with two points.
While the Lady Trojans enjoyed earning a tally under the win column, the Trojans suffered a 60-35 loss to the hands of the Oakdale Warriors.
Oakdale jumped out to a commanding 18-2 lead in the first quarter and opened the lead to 35-10 as both teams entered the locker rooms at the half.
The scoring differential balanced out for both teams in the second half. Oakdale scored 11 third quarter points to Sacred Heart’s nine, and the Trojans scored 16 fourth quarter points to the Warriors’ 14.
Leading Sacred Heart in scoring was Jacques Leger with nine points. Jack LaHaye was not far off the leaderboard with seven points of his own.
Also scoring for the Trojans were Isaac Leger with six points, Gabe Courville with four points, and Dylan Vidrine with three points on one basket. Three other Trojans each got two points apiece.
The Trojans, with the loss fell to 1-7.
