Sacred Heart holds athletic ceremony to honor individual athletic efforts

Just recently, Sacred Heart High School wrapped up their 2018-19 athletic season with the presentation of awards at their annual athletic ceremony.
The Trojans and the Lady Trojans enjoyed a banner year in the world of high school sports, sending several teams to the playoffs and getting athletes to compete at the state level.
In football, Sacred Heart finished their campaign with an overall record of 7-3 and trip to the first round of the Division IV playoffs.
The boy’s basketball team did something that had not been done in 20+ seasons; host a playoff game. The Trojans completed their magical year with a first round playoff contest.
The girl’s basketball team continued their success on the floor this past season, reaching the first round of the post-season after garnering the No. 17 seed in Division IV.
Speaking of continued success, both the Sacred Heart baseball and softball teams once again showed their dominance on the diamond. The baseball squad advanced on to the quarterfinals in Division IV, while the softball team made a trip to the semi-finals and the State Tournament.
The boys and girls track and field teams also relished in some individual success, sending athletes on to the regional and state level meets.
The Trojan cross country team reached the Top 15 at the state meet as the Lady Trojans were getting a Top 10 finish.
The Sacred Heart boys and girls’tennis teams each qualified for the state tennis championships held in Monroe.
Meanwhile, the Trojan powerlifting team went full out as they captured third place overall in the state meet and had two individual state champions.

Baseball- Most Improved, Gabe Fontenot; Hardest Worker, Cade Manuel; Coach’s Award, Drew Bordelon.
Softball- Most Improved, Natalie Doucet; Hardest Worker, Karli Fontenot; Coach’s Award, Sydnie Soileau.
Boy’s Cross Country- Most Improved, Reese Fontenot; Hardest Worker, Tristan Soileau; Coach’s Award, Zackary Boudreaux.
Girl’s Cross Country- Most Improved, Torie Fontenot; Hardest Worker, Maci Vidrine; Coach’s Award, Victor Parks.
Boy’s Tennis- Hardest Worker, Ben Manuel; Coach’s Award, Sam Gil and Victor Parker.
Girl’s Tennis- Hardest Worker, Halie Fontenot; Coach’s Award, Mary Dupre and Karina Parks.
Golf- Most Improved, Seth Lafleur; Coach’s Award, Jack Lahaye.
Boy’s Track- Most Improved, Michael Cole Fontenot; Hardest Worker, Spencer Darbonne; Coach’s Award, Tristan Soileau and Evyn Soileau.
Girl’s Track- Most Improved, Torie Fontenot; Hardest Worker and Coach’s Award, Carley Cloud.
