Stealing a win somewhere.
That is what the Pine Prairie Panthers are hoping to do in the final four games of the regular season. If Pine Prairie can do that, they would more than likely make the post-season, a feat that has alluded the Panthers since the inception of the program.
Pine Prairie (3-3, 2-1) will try look to pick up that ever important win tomorrow night when they travel to Eunice (5-1, 2-1) to take on the No. 2 ranked Bobcats.
“Our goal this season has always been to reach the playoffs,” stated Pine Prairie head coach Yves Prince. “Right now we are in a good position to do that, but I believe that we have to pick up another win somewhere along the line. We are coming into this game with the attitude that we can beat the better teams in our district.”
Beating Eunice, however will be tough for Pine Prairie. The Bobcats average 34.6 points per game on offense and have scored 30 points or more in five games this season.
One area that the Panthers can take advantage of is the Eunice defense. The Bobcats give up 19.5 points per game to their opponents.
“If we can control the ball with our running game and keep the football out of their hands, we will have a chance,” said Prince. “They throw it better than they run it. We are just going to have to play sound pass defense and when they do run it, we have to be in the right spot defensively.”
The Panthers are currently the No. 36 team in the state in terms of power ranking.
