Pine Prairie loses two out of three; Ville Platte upended by Notre Dame

The Pine Prairie Panthers, winners of six of their last seven games, could not hold on to their winning ways as they lost two out of three contests beginning on Saturday and ending Tuesday.
The Panthers picked up a big 8-7 win over district rival Port Barre on Saturday then fell to Avoyelles Charter 13-3 on Monday. Pine Prairie turned around on Tuesday and gave up a heartbreaking 4-1 loss to that same Port Barre team they had beaten just two days earlier.
The Panthers are now 9-10 on the year and 3-1 in league play. Pine Prairie will host district and parish rival Mamou today. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, the four game winning streak for the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs came to an end Tuesday afternoon, as they fell to the Notre Dame Lady Pioneers 15-0 and 16-0 in a road doubleheader.
With the losses Ville Platte drops to 6-4 on the season and 3-3 in league play. The Lady Bulldogs host Kinder today at the Ville Platte Sports Complex. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
Also on Tuesday afternoon, the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers had no trouble in a 15-0 blanking of the Eunice Lady Bobcats.
The Lady Panthers improve to 14-9 on the season and 7-3 in District 5-3A. Pine Prairie travels to Northwest High to take on the Lady Raiders in a doubleheader today. First game is set for 4 p.m.

Pine Prairie
vs. Port Barre
Pine Prairie jumped out on Port Barre right out of the gate, scoring three runs in the first inning. JJ Sims tripled, Jordan Ardoin doubled and Joel Franks, Jace Vidrine and Jason Marsh all singled to aid in the big at bat.
The Panthers scored another run in the second, but fell behind when the Red Devils picked up six runs over the next three innings. Port Barre added to their lead in the sixth with a single run.
However, Pine Prairie would not be denied, as the Panthers drove in four runs in the bottom of the sixth to close out the win.

Pine Prairie vs.
Avoyelles Charter
Despite leading 3-1 after three innings of play, Pine Prairie could not sustain their momentum, giving up seven runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth to the Vikings.
Jordan Ardoin was 2 for 2 at the plate, while Kyler Carson was 2 for 3 to lead the Panthers.

Ville Platte
vs. Notre Dame
It was not a good afternoon for the Lady Bulldogs, as they could only manage four total hits in their doubleheader loss to Notre Dame.
Madison Monier led the way at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs, going 2 for 2 on the day.

Pine Prairie vs. Eunice
The Lady Panthers scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back in their powerful win over Eunice.
Pine Prairie picked up another seven runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Lady Panthers finished out the run rule win with five additional runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Kailey Soileau and Allie Fontenot were both 3 for 4 with two RBI to lead the way at the plate.
