Pine Prairie faces Church Point in last game of year

As far as the season is concerned, this will be the last game for the Pine Prairie Panthers in 2019.
Pine Prairie has not picked up a win this season and will finish out the year with a home game against the No. 5 ranked Church Point Bears. Game time in Pine Prairie is set for 7 p.m.
Although Pine Prairie has not gotten the wins this season, the Panthers have shown their resilience throughout this grueling campaign. Playing with mostly freshmen and sophomores, Pine Prairie has not wavered in their efforts on the field this season.
That is why head coach Yves Prince has given his team a ton of credit week in and week out.
“I have to hand it to our players, they don’t ever give up,” stated Prince. “The way you know that is because most of our points have come late in games. If our kids would have given up in a game, then we would not have any points at all this season.”
Case in point. Last week the Panthers actually put a scare in the Ville Platte Bulldogs on the road. In that game, Pine Prairie only trailed by two points, 14-12, with 11:23 left to go in the second quarter.
Not only that, but the Panthers actually were within eight points mid-way through the period.
Pine Prairie will need all of that effort and more this week as they face one of the toughest teams in Class 3A.
Church Point come into the game with an overall record of 6-2 and a district record of 4-0. The Bears started the season 0-2 and have reeled off six wins in a row.
Church Point averages 26.4 points per game on offense and gives up 18.1 points per game on defense. The Bears have surrendered a total of 22 points in their last two games.
