Pine Prairie drops out of post-season

MONROE -- The Pine Prairie High basketball team’s season came to an end Tuesday night, as they fell 82-34 to the No. 3 seed Wossman Wildcats in the second round of the LHSAA Class 3A playoffs.
The Panthers finished the year with an overall record of 18-9.
Pine Prairie, the No. 14 seed, looked as if they were going to give Wossman all they could handle after one quarter of play. The Panthers, behind Isaiah Payne’s nine points, only trailed the Wildcats 16-13 when the horn sounded to end the opening period.
Wossman picked up the pace both offensively and defensively in the second quarter. The Wildcats outscored Pine Prairie 22-11, despite the combined nine point effort from the Panthers’ Kyler Carson and JJ Sims.
The second half did not go well at all for Pine Prairie. Wossman began to assert themselves in every aspect of the game and held a 59-31 lead with one period left to play.
The domination by the Wildcats continued in the final period. Wossman out produced the Panthers 23-3 to finish out the win.
Payne collected 18 points for Pine Prairie to lead all Panther scorers.
