It was the end of the road for three of the boy’s parish basketball teams, as they were not able to attain enough power points to reach this year’s playoffs.
In Division IV, the Sacred Heart Trojans finished the year off with an overall record of 6-23 when they fell to the Laccasine Cardinals 55-44 this past Wednesday night.
In that game, Sacred Heart and Laccasine were tied at 15-15 after one quarter of play. However, the Cardinals went up by five, 27-22, as the horn sounded to end the first half of play.
A 15-7 advantage by Laccasine in the third quarter negated a 15-13 edge by Sacred Heart in the final period and sealed the game for the Cardinals.
Tyler Perron scored 14 points to lead the Trojans in the loss.
In Class 3A, the Pine Prairie Panthers let the game slip away from them in the first two quarters of play, as they were outscored 17-8 and 9-6 respectfully to trail by 12 at the half in their 63-44 loss to Church Point.
The second half was better for the Panthers offensively, as they ran point for point with the Bears. However, Pine Prairie allowed Church Point to outscore them by seven in the final quarter.
The Panthers end the year with an overall record of 2-29.
And finally, also in Class 3A, the Mamou Demons dropped their last two games, a 48-43 loss to Church Point and a 75-58 loss to Iota this past week to finish the year at 7-27.
