Parish basketball teams continue on with season

Basketball continues in full force for all parish basketball teams as they try to tack on as many power points necessary before the post-season begins in February.
Starting in Class 3A, the Ville Platte High Bulldogs improved to 11-1 overall with a commanding 76-59 win over the Crowley Gents.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an 18-17 lead after one quarter of play, but blew the game wide open by out scoring Crowley 27-9 in the second quarter.
Terrian Roy led the way with 17 points, while Tyler Jones added 16 points and Ernest Roberts contributed 10 points.
The Ville Platte High Lady Bulldogs used a 37-20 advantage in the first half as leverage in a 59-46 win over the Crowley Ladies.
Crowley out paced the Lady Bulldogs in the third quarter 17-11, but Ville Platte responded with an 11-9 advantage in the final period. Ville Platte improves to 5-6 on the year with the win.
Alyssa Soileau led all Lady Bulldogs with 19 points, while Aliyah Soileau pitched in 12 points in the win.
Staying in Class 3A, the Pine Prairie Panthers raised their overall record to 8-1 on the year with a resounding 71-56 win over the Bolton Bears.
The Panthers busted the game open in the first quarter by out gunning the Bears 23-14. A close second period saw Bolton hold even with Pine Prairie, as the Bears closed with a 21-20 edge.
Another one point advantage by the Bears, 16-15, in the third quarter made it a seven point game. However, the Panthers finished the contest on a 13-8 run.
Isaiah Payne scorched the nets with 30 points, while Jordan Ardoin bucketed 20 points.
The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers extended their win streak to 10 in a row and upped their record to 11-5 with a 41-34 win over the Bolton Lady Bears.
Asia George led Pine Prairie with 14 points, while Kameron Allen chipped in 11 points.
In Class 1A the Sacred Heart Trojans fell to 3-9 on the season with a 39-33 loss to the Vermilion Catholic Eagles.
Bryce Deville had six points to lead the Trojans.
Finally, the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans dropped a 59-19 game to the Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles to fall to 3-8 on the year.
