Sacred Heart student-athlete Cade Manuel was recently honored with a very prestigious award for his academic excellence.
The senior linebacker and tight end for the Trojans was selected to the LHSAA Academic All-State Composite Team for the 2018 season. In order for a student-athlete to garner a spot on the Composite Team, he or she must maintain a 4.0 GPA for six semesters.
The Composite team is made up of all classes and divisions in the LHSAA. Manuel was one of only 91 players from around the state named to the Composite Team.
Several other players from the parish were also named to the Academic Class/Division Teams. These student athletes are named just to their respective class or division and have to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Named to the Class 3A/Division team was Pine Prairie’s Matthew Derouselle.
Sacred Heart’s Wesley Launey, Garrett Fontenot, Evyn Soileau, Bo John Armand, Nicholas Perry and Alec Gotro were named to the Class 1A/Divsion IV team along with Manuel.
Basile’s Gage Johnson, Jay Pitre and Jaylen Thomas were also selected to that same team.
