LSU sets date for return of athletes

If all goes according to plan, LSU student-athletes could return to campus on June 1st.
Of course that move will depend on a couple of factors, the first of which will be if the Southeastern Conference lifts its suspension of activities.
The SEC suspended those activities along with practices, meetings and large gatherings approximately two months ago. That suspension was set to expire on May 31st.
“I see sometime in June our student-athletes getting back to campus,” LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward said Wednesday evening.
LSU assistant football coaches were allowed back on campus May 4th. However, during that time, athletes were relegated to exercising on their own, with guidance from the respective staffs.
As far as football goes, a task force was created to help players academically and virtual calls aided in installing offensive and defensive playbooks.
“We have top concern for our student-athletes,” Woodward said. “We’re making sure that is paramount, that we do these things we can control because that’s one thing in our hands that we can help and we can do better.”
