Local cross country runners compete at state meet; come home with good results

NATCHITOCHES – Three of the five parish schools recently sent representative runners to the LHSAA State Meet held in Natchitoches and the results were pretty darn good.
In the Class 3A girl’s competition, Ville Platte High placed 14th as a team overall. Pacing the way for the Lady Bulldogs was Vandryua Wilson, who took eighth place overall with a 21:09 time.
Other runners that contributed to the overall ranking for Ville Platte included Alysaa Soileau (74th, 25:40.5), Destiny Lavigne (86th, 26:21.2), Hanna Monier (83rd, 26:16.3) and Jaimayia Hebert (111th, 28:12).
Staying in Class 3A, the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers finished in 17th place overall as a team. Emily Vidrine led the way for the Lady Panthers, coming out 51st with a time of 24:07.3
Pine Prairie also had several other runners competing, including Gracie McCall (92nd, 26:42.5), Jesa Vidrine (104th, 27:45.9), Shaylynn Ashford (108th, 28:02.9), Alexsandra Fontenot (115th, 29:03.4), Ashlynn Robinson (116th, 29:21.6) and Emily Joubert (129th, (30:23.5).
In Class 1A, the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans took home 11th place overall as a team. Pacing the Lady Trojans was Maci Vidrine, who finished 20th with a time of 22:43.2.
Other runners for Sacred Heart included Carley Cloud (69th, 28:35), Emma Butler (70th, 28:59.1), Elizabeth McDaniel (71st, 29:07.5), Torie Fontenot (73rd, 29:41.2) and Catherine Fontenot (74th, 29:57).
Switching to the boy’s competition, in Class 3A the Pine Prairie boys placed 15th overall. Leading the Panthers was Jason Marsh, the 38th place runner who clocked in at 18:35.3.
Six other Panthers participated in the competition including Lee Marsh (81st, 20:22.3), Robert McGee (82nd, 20:23.8), Bryce Soileau (101st, 20:57.1), Marcus Girouard (112th, 21:18.3), Jonah Nugent (120th, 21:37.8) and Jace Vidrine (142nd, 23:06.3).
The Ville Platte Bulldogs captured 23rd overall in Class 3A as Christian Acclis paced Ville Platte, coming out 126th with a time of 21:57.6. Also running for the Bulldogs were Brandon Freeman (132nd, 22:23.5), Ta’von Anderson (145th, 23:23.1), Trent Smith (154th, 24:17.3), William Fontenot (159th, 25:16.4), Michael Soileau (164th, 26:04.3) and Dylan Thibodeaux (169th, 26:39.5).
In Class 1A, the Sacred Heart boys had five runners finish the race. Those that participated include Tyler Mire (44th, 20:59.1), Michael Fontenot (49th, 21:25.5), Reese Fontenot (69th, 22:37.6), Dylan Doucet (88th, 25:27.1) and Tucker Chesne (96th, 27:08.7).
