Lady Trojans run past Lady Tigers in doubleheader

MARKSVILLE -- The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans improved to 3-3 on the season after blasting the Marksville Lady Tigers in a doubleheader sweep on Thursday.
Sacred Heart was scheduled to play Plainview on the road Friday and Rayne tomorrow in Rayne.
In game one, Camille Soileau was as good as could be on the mound for the Lady Trojans, pitching five complete innings, allowing on two hits and striking out five in a 10-0 blanking of Marksville.
Sacred Heart jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Sydney Soileau and Camille Fontenot each reached base after getting hit by the pitch. Karli Fontenot followed with a single to load the bases.
Tobie Landry plated Soileau and filled the bases full when she singled to right field. The Fontenot duo both reached home on an error off of Camille Soileau’s bat. Three fly balls later, the Lady Tigers were out of the woods.
The Lady Trojans added another run in the top of the second. Elizabeth McDaniel reached first on an error and moved all the way to third base on an ensuing error. McDaniel scored on a single from Soileau to put Sacred Heart up 4-0.
After a scoreless third inning, the Lady Trojans picked up four more runs in the top of the fourth inning. Blaire Lafleur led the inning off with a single to right-center field. Lafleur took second on a single from Maci Vidrine.
McDaniel followed with a single of her own to plate Lafleur and push Vidrine to second base. Following a strike out, Camille Fontenot doubled to left-center field, scoring Vidrine and gave Sacred Heat runners at second and third with one out.
Karli Fontenot drove both McDaniel and Camille Fontenot home. However, the Lady Trojans could not push any more runs across.
In the top of the fifth inning, Sacred Heart gathered their final two runs of the game. Both Sydney Soileau and McDaniel would score on a single from Camille Fontenot.
In game two, Tobie Landry went 5 for 5 with two doubles and seven RBI to lead the Lady Trojans to a resounding 16-1 win.
Sacred Heart earned four runs in the top of the first inning. Sydney Soileau doubled in the lead off position. Aubrey Foret was hit by a pitch and Karli Fontenot followed with a base on balls.
Tobie Landry singled home Soileau, keeping the bases juiced. A fly ball out was followed by a single from Emilyse Bergeron that plated Foret and Karli Fontenot. Natalie Doucet singled putting runners at first and second, while Landry was thrown out trying to reach home. Lainey Kennard walked to load the bases.
Jenna Estilette reached on a free pass, scoring Bergeron. A line drive out killed the inning for Sacred Heart.
After holding Marksville scoreless in the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Trojans added five more runs in the top of the second.
Foret led things off with a single and reached third when Karli Fontenot doubled to right field. Landry followed with a double of her own, scoring Foret and Fontenot.
Camille Soileau plated Landry on a double and scored on a double off of the bat of Emilyse Bergeron; the third such hit in a row for Sacred Heart.
A single by Natalie Doucet brought Bergeron to the plate. The Lady Trojans continued to threaten as Estillete would single two batters later. However, the Lady Tigers were able to quell the tide and not suffer any more damage than had already been done.
Sacred Heart picked up a solo run in the top of the third to push their lead to 10-0. Landry singled with one out and scored on a single from Camille Soileau.
Two more runs came across to score for the Lady Trojans in the top of the fourth. Singles by Karli Fontenot and Landry gave Sydney Soileau and Foret the chance to reach home plate.
Sacred Heart tacked on their final four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Landry and Foret each doubled to aid in the runs scored.
Marksville’s only run came in the bottom of the fourth inning. An error, a stolen base and a single got the run across.
