Lady Trojans pick up wins at STM

Coming off of two tough loses to open the season, the Sacred Heart Lady Trojan softball team needed some wins to begin heading in the right direction.
The Lady Trojans did that and more, going 2-1 this past weekend at the St. Thomas More Tournament.
On Friday night, Sacred Heart produced a ton of runs, but could not hold back the Lady Yellow Jackets of New Iberia, as the Lady Trojans fell 15-14.
In that game, Sacred Heart fell behind 2-1 after one inning of play. The Lady Trojans tied the game up with a solo run in the top of the second and then blasted out eight runs in the top of the fourth to go up 10-2.
New Iberia produced a single run in the bottom half of the fourth. Sacred Heart responded with three in the top of the seventh, however, the Lady Yellow Jackets put up a 10 spot in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 13-13.
In the eighth, the Lady Trojans put up a single run, but surrendered the two winning runs in New Iberia’s last at bat.
On Saturday, Sacred Heart turned things around with a 20-10 thumping aof the Comeaux Lady Spartans. In that contest, the Lady Trojans pounded out 25 hits, with seven players notching three hits or more, including four hits from Hallie Lafleur and Camille Soileau.
The final game on Saturday saw Sacred Heart continue with the hot bats as they produced 16 runs on 13 hits in a 16-0 shellacking of the Carencro Lady Bears.
In that game, Olivia Hernandez went four-for-four with three RBI.
