The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers remained undefeated in this young softball season after taking three wins at the St. Thomas More Tournament this past weekend.
In game one Friday afternoon, Pine Prairie needed every at bat to take a 7-5 win over the Erath Lady Bobcats. The Lady Panthers surrendered an early 2-0 lead to Erath after one-half inning of play. However, Pine Prairie notched two runs of their own to tie the game back up in the bottom half of the inning.
Alaina Boutte singled and scored on a double by Maycie Hardy in the bottom of the second to put the Lady Panthers up by one. Pine Prairie put up a solo run in the third to take a 4-2 lead.
Erath tied the game back up in the fourth with two runs of their own. The Lady Panthers went ahead with a solo run in the bottom of the inning and after giving up a run to the Lady Bobcats in the fifth, sealed the win with two runs in their final at bat.
Later that evening, Pine Prairie broke out the bats even more as they collected 12 runs on 15 hits in a shutout win over the Rayne Lady Wolves. The big inning for the Lady Panthers came in the top of the sixth, when they scored six runs.
Against Rayne the Lady Panthers pounded the ball for eight extra base hits, including a home run from Kailey Soileau.
The final game for Pine Prairie came on Saturday. In that game, the Lady Panthers held off a late charging New Iberia squad for an 11-7 win. Brianna Wall pitched five and a third innings, surrendering six runs on 11 hits, while striking out five.
