Lady Bulldogs crush Lady Tigers, Lady Trojans fall

Across the parish diamonds, the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs continued their winning ways by blasting the Opelousas Lady Tigers 16-2 on Wednesday, while the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans fell in their second league game of the season 6-5 to Catholic of Pointe Coupee on Thursday.
In other parish baseball news, the Pine Prairie Panthers slipped past Church Point 7-4 and the Mamou Demons dropped a district game to Port Barre by the score of 7-3.

Ville Platte
vs. Opelousas
Kenderlyn Doucet, Madison Monier, Alyssa Soileau and Hailey Bordelon all collected multiple hits to lead Ville Platte to a resounding non-district win.
The Lady Bulldogs scored five runs in the second and seven runs in the sixth to aid in their win.
Ville Platte is now 6-2 on the year and will play a double header at Notre Dame on Tuesday.

Sacred Heart
vs. Catholic, P.C.
Sacred Heart (7-5, 1-1) gave up two runs in the top of the fifth to blow a one run advantage in the loss to the Lady Hornets.
Olivia Hernandez was 3 for 4 with three RBI to lead the way for the Lady Trojans. Sacred Heart returns to action tomorrow when they host Oakdale in a non-district game.

Pine Prairie
vs. Church Point
Pine Prairie (8-8, 2-0) led from the start and never really looked back in their win over the Bears.
The Panthers owned a 3-1 lead after two innings. They eventually scored another run before putting up three more in the fourth to pull ahead for the final time in the game.

Mamou vs. Port Barre
The Mamou Demons dropped their first district game of the season with the loss to the Red Devils.
All of the Demon’s runs came in the bottom of the seventh inning.
