Gazette football contest winners determined

The 2019 Gazette Football Contest was one for the ages as both the individual and business categories needed an extra week to determine the winner.
In the individual category, after 13 weeks of predictions, two contestants ended up with the same total number of points, as Jody Ortego and Perry Vidrine each finished with 24 points.
To break the tie, the two participated in an extra week of picks, with Ortego taking the win on a tiebreaker pick.
In the business category, Teet’s and Krazy Cajun Cafe also ended the regular season with 14 points apiece. An extra week of picks was also afforded the two businesses and Teet’s captured the title by getting one game more correct than the Krazy Cajun.
In the contest for bragging rights among Gazette staff and our weekly guest picker, editor Tony Marks took first place with an overall record of 96-34. Marks completed a rags to riches story this season, as he was a last place finisher in 2018. Kathy Longino came out tied with publisher Garland Forman second, while there was a three way tie for third place.
