DYB, VPGSA action continues at VP/EPRP

Action filled the Ville Platte/Evangeline Recreational Park throughout the week from both Dixie Youth Baseball and Ville Platte Girls Softball. Here is a rundown of games played from Tuesday to Thursday of this past week.

Tuesday
Dixie Youth
Aces vs. Cubs (12U)
It was all Aces in the Majors division as the Aces put up five runs in the first, a single run in the third and six runs in the fourth to earn a 12-1 win.

Bees vs. Dots (8U)
The Dots jumped on top 3-2 after one inning of play. However the Bees outscored the Dots 11-3 over the next three innings to take a 13-6 win.

Bees vs. Giants (6U)
The Giants scored five runs in each of their three at bats to take a 15-7 win over the Bees in T-Ball action.

VPGSA
Sharknado vs.
Thunder (10U)
In fast-pitch play, Layla Fontenot pitched a perfect game and scored once as the Sharknado blanked the Thunder 9-0.

Crickets vs.
Dragonflies (6U)
The girls T-Ball division saw an exciting contest as both the Crickets and the Dragonflies produced enough offense to create a 15-15 tie in the three innings of play.

Wednesday
Dixie Youth
Dots vs. Bees (10U)
In Minor League action, despite falling behind 4-1 after one inning of play the Dots were able to outscored the Bees 7-2 over the next two innings to take an 8-6 win.

Giants vs. Cubs (10U)
The second 10U game of the night saw the Cubs blast out seven runs in their final at bat for a 13-4 win over the Giants.

Giants vs. Elks (6U)
The Giants continued their offensive output from the day before, scoring a 15-7 win over the Elks Wednesday afternoon.

Falcons vs. Cubs (6U)
This T-Ball game began as tight as can be with the Falcons leading 10-9 after two innings of play. The Falcons broke the game open in the third inning, scoring two runs to earn a 12-9 win.

VPGSA
Shine vs.
Hurricanes (10U)
The two teams found themselves deadlocked at 1-1 after one inning of play. The Shine collected two more runs in the second to move ahead 3-2 and then sealed the 6-2 win with three more runs in the third inning.

Crickets vs.
Glowworms (6U)
It came down to defense, as the Glowworms were able to hold the Crickets to two runs in each of the last two innings to obtain a 14-9 win.

Lovebugs vs.
Butterflies (6U)
A 5-2 lead for the Lovebugs after the first inning flipped to an 8-7 lead for the Butterflies following the next inning of play. The Butterflies firmed up the 10-7 win with two more runs in the third inning.

Thursday
Dixie Youth
Aces vs. Elks (10U)
A high scoring first inning saw the Elks take a 4-3 lead. Nevertheless, the Aces were not going to let the game slip away, as they produced three more runs in the second inning to earn a 6-4 win.

Aces vs. Falcons (6U)
The big difference in this contest came in the first inning when the Aces outscored the Falcons 4-0. The two teams stayed even in the scoring department until the fourth inning when the Aces outpaced the Falcons 6-5 to garner a 17-13 victory.

Dots vs. Cubs (6U)
In a very low scoring contest, the Dots moved out to a 1-0 lead after one inning of play. A scoreless second inning led to a 3-1 Dots advantage in the team’s third at bat. The Cubs mounted a comeback in the fourth inning, outdoing the Dots 4-1. But it was not enough, as the Dots took home a 6-5 win.

Sharknado vs.
Hurricanes (10U)
The 4-2 advantage taken by the Sharknado in the first inning spelled the difference in the game with the Hurricanes. The Sharknado club added two more runs in the third inning for a 6-3 win.

Butterflies vs.
Crickets (6U)
It was all Butterflies as they produce some great offense in an 11-5 win.
