LAFAYETTE -- After dropping their last four contests, the ULL Lady Cajuns are hoping to get back on the winning track in their upcoming contests.
The Lady Cajuns have not won since Nov. 19 when they took down Jackson St. ULL finds themselves with an overall record of 2-6.
Former Ville Platte High standout and current sophomore Tyreonna Doucet has helped the Lady Cajuns tremendously this season on the inside. The athletic center has started all eight games this year and averages 33.5 minutes per game.
Doucet is currently averaging 16.1 points per game on 60.5 percent from the field. She also averages 12 rebounds a game and has 11 blocks and 16 steals to her name.
Despite the latest setback, a 68-62 loss to Sam Houston St., ULL head coach Gary Broadhead has decided to change some things up a bit, including adding another wrinkle on the defensive side of the ball, namely a 1-2-2 zone.
“If you notice, we went to a 1-2-2 zone and it was pretty good toward the end of the game,” explained Broadhead. “Then all of a sudden, they did a dribble-follow where they curled the guard back into the corner and she hit a three-pointer. In the next possession, we called man and nobody heard me, so we stayed in the 1-2-2 and they did it again. That’s on me.”
The Lady Cajuns will have a tough rest of the month, as they will face Ole Miss, LSU and Mississippi State in three of the next four games.
